Waking early, 5a.m. to be exact, we finished packing our belongings, took out the remaining trash, and put the washed dishes back in their respective places. We managed to eat through almost all the food we purchased, with the exception of a lone pepper, half a container of spouts, and a stick of butter. We threw everything away except the butter. As we were finishing up, the electricity went out. Well, if you saw the rats nest of the powerlines (did not get a picture though should have), this was no surprise. Finish up with the use of our cell phone flash lights.
With how awful the traffic is in Mexico City, we wanted to make sure we had plenty of time to account for any traffic we might encounter. Luckily, the streets were quiet and we made it with almost an hour and a half to spare. Even though we had TSA Pre, it is not a thing internally so if traveling internationally back into the States, just know this. Phones, ipads, and batteries must be pulled out and displayed not just a laptop. We made it through security, though JD had placed a giant bottle of contact solution in my bag and so I got stopped and questioned. It got tossed and we headed to our gate. What a fucking disaster, so many people!
Travel was again as easy as it was traveling to Mexico City. All flights were on time, arrived a bit earlier, and getting through customs was pretty quick. We left 80-degree weather to arrive in St Louis to snow and 30-degree weather. When we left, it was brisk in St Louis at 50 degrees so we weren’t prepared for snow. Since the ground was still warmish, the roads weren’t slick though we did watch an asshole speeding start fishtailing on the interstate. Thankfully, no accidents and that driver slowed his role after that.

The snow was sticking and the dogs were happy for us to be home. It was good to be home but we mourned the back to reality that was upon us. Oh, Mexico City, you treated us well and we will be back. Thanks for your hospitality!
