Thank god for the weekend and that we didn’t have immediate plans this morning. I slept until 8 am which still wasn’t enough sleep though I didn’t want to waste our day either. We took our time getting around before heading out. We had planned on doing some hiking in the St George area however, there was a 70.3 Half Ironman Championship happening and a lot of access points were closed. Their farmers market was also closed which we wanted to go to but makes sense with the race.

We headed to Hurricane to that farmers market. We needed to pick up some homemade blueberry sourdough Jess had ordered for us and also look around. Jess was also on the hunt for some good salsa. Low and behold, one of the first booths was a guy selling salsa. Some of the best salsa I’ve had in a long while. All of them were good and it was hard to choose but we went with the OG.

Since we didn’t formally eat breakfast, we shared a breakfast burrito and damn it was good! Thank goodness we shared since they thing was a size of forearm.

After the farmer’s market, we headed to our hiking spot at Kolob Canyon in Zion. The plan was to hike North Fork Taylor Creek Trail. When we got to the visitor’s center, they said there were arches on the Middle Fork Taylor Creek that are pretty impressive. Since the two hikes start at the same trail head, we figured we would go see the arches then on the way back, do the other section.

After hiking to the arches, we made it back to the fork where we could go to the North section. Both of us were running low on water and we were hungry so we decided to just back to the car. The round trip took us almost 4 hours and we hiked almost 7 miles. When we went back to the visitor center, I asked where the rest of the road took you. We only parked near the trail head and didn’t venture further. The lady told us to turn around and go back up the mountain on the scenic drive as it was well worth it. Boy was she right. The views were absolutely stunning. Again pictures don’t do it justice!

The picture above is of the rock formations behind us for the most part.
One of the views on the road as we drove.

After we were done hiking, we headed to Costco to grab groceries for the week. Going from nature bliss to Costco is a major shift in energy. I hate Costco. We got our stuff and got the hell out. We didn’t get back to our place until 8:30 pm. We snacked, showered and went to bed.

Even though I wore long legged leggings, I somehow got burnt on my calves even though they were not exposed. I guess I need to wear sunscreen UNDER my clothes now?
