The Narrows are one of the premier hikes in Zion and one of the most famous hikes. This is also the narrowest section of Zion Canyon hence the name. Knowing this, we didn’t want to deal with a bunch of people so we went early. Considering yesterday was a high of mid/high 60’s, we decided to rent the waders, neoprene socks, shoes and walking sticks. We didn’t want to wait in line so we rented the night before so we could hit the ground running.
We got to the park at the same time as we did yesterday however, there were NO parking spots in the park so we looked for street parking. Paying for parking was a last resort. We did luck out and found a spot on the side of the road just past the South Campgrounds. It was about half mile from the entrance so not horrible.

The shuttle ride to stop 9 was about 45 minutes from the Visitor Center (stop 1). It was pretty crowded with a bunch of people doing the Narrows and Angel’s landing (stop 6). At our stop, we made the mile hike down to the water (this was part of the trail) to start that part of the hike.

The river came to a fork which we took the right which Orderville Canyon which lead up to Velied Falls. This was that “trail”.

Our hike was 6.6 miles round trip. It was a really cool experience and a very fun hike. I highly recommend this experience though keep in mind, the water can be cold. The rocks are pretty smooth and round however, if you have balance issues, be ware. Get there early as by the time we exited the hike, there was an influx of people (mid day). Or go later (around 4-5 pm) when it is starting to die down.

After we exited the hike, we took the shuttle back to the visitor center. We dropped off our rented gear and headed to our vehicle. Jess wanted to get some souvenirs for her peeps so we stopped at this cute outpost. They sold local artist offerings from jewelry, art work, dream catchers, etc. I bought some stickers and Jess bought a turquoise necklace for Mak.

We headed back to our place to eat and get cleaned up. Since this was my last full day before flying out, I did a laundry, ate dinner, and headed to bed. After hiking in the water on unstable footing, we were exhausted. I’m sad that this is my last full day in this beautiful state. Next stop, Las Vegas!
