On our way to the trailhead while Nicco was driving us, he was telling Brandi and I about the Smithsonian exhibit at the Anchorage Museum that goes over in detail how the indigenous people of Alaska came to be so we decided that would be our “thing to see” on our last day before we did laundry.

We got up and headed for breakfast at Sami’s City Diner which was close to our place so we walked there. On that walk, it started to rain so we knew we wouldn’t be walking to the museum. The diner was pretty full which we ended up sitting at the bar so we didn’t have to wait for a table. Breakfast was super good. Brandi had some corned beef hash and I had crab cake eggs Benedict with a side of grits. The crab cakes were super tasty.

After breakfast, we called an Uber to take us to the Anchorage Museum. The Uber driver was a semi-retired gentleman with a super decked out Tacoma. He was very friendly.

The museum was really cool and was very interactive. Spent the first hour on a self guided tour and when the time came for the indigenous tour, we headed back to the lobby to learn about the different groups and how they lived. Our guide was a 24 year old gentleman who was very eclectic and very passionate about what he was teaching us. We ended up spending 2.5 hours at the museum though it was still raining when we left so we called another Uber. By chance, we saw Chris and Rachel from our trip walking to the museum but we were already in the car. Small world.

Once we got back to the airbnb, we relaxed for a bit before heading to the laundry mat. We both had our wet dirty closes in a garbage bag and they smelled a homeless person. It was awful. Brandi stayed with the clothes while I went to the grocery store to get beer while we waited.

Beer suggestion from a random stranger in the liquor store.

At least they are clean and don’t smell!

Once the laundry was done, we folded and packed our bags since we both had a 6am flight so we needed to get to bed at a decent time because we had to be up at 3am. We finished the leftover pizza we had for dinner so we didn’t have to waste any food.

Overall a very successful trip and I got to do it with one of my favorite people. Now we just need to plan the next one!

We came, we saw, we ate, we drank and we hiked! Thanks Alaska for treating us well. Until next time. ❤️❤️
