We decided that our first full day would be us taking our time in the morning (aka not setting an alarm to get up) and spend the day walking around the neighborhood. We woke up at 8:20 naturally (UGH) but as we agreed, we took our time. We made coffee and breakfast before heading out.

Sautéed yellow peppers, chorizo, eggs, Mexican cheese, sprouts, salsa Verda, and avocado tacos.

Some things about the area we are staying in. The area is called La Condesa which is a more prominent area. Across from your place is a beautiful park. It is extremely walkable, with public bike share available, and little boutique shops and restaurants. If you are interested in the place and location, here is the link to the airbnb we stayed. https://www.airbnb.com/slink/c24dTDcT

The host told us that neighboring Roma was very similar in feel so if we wanted to check that it, it was walking distance so last night JD loosely planned a walk from La Condesa to Roma. Firstly, the opposite traveling driving lanes are separated by beautiful tree covered walkways. You can also walk on either side near the buildings on side walks but why would you when you can be surrounded by vegetation with easy access to either side by crosswalks?

As we headed out on these green walkways towards Roma, we took a detour to the park that is surrounded by Amsterdam Mexico. It is the round area in the middle of the walking destination below. The left is where we stayed to the right of general Roma.

The park was so beautiful with a big (and when I say I mean big) dog park (sorry didn’t take a picture), big trees, and fountains. You might be thinking that this park might be crowded but it wasn’t. There were quite a few dogs in the dog park but outside of that, we had plenty of space to walk side by side. Notice on the last fountain how little people there were.

We enjoyed walking the neighborhoods and seeing everything. Where the US opens up at 11am for lunch, Latin’s don’t open up until around 1pm for lunch. Now with that said, there are exceptions though for the most part this is true. Most things open in the morning are pastry/bakery’s and coffee shops. I did see a random mimosa and beer here and there but few and far between.

We ended up having lunch close our place that got great reviews and it did not disappoint! We ended up a little shop that had such great food and the workers were so nice. Here is the google link as they don’t have a website but they don’t need one it was that good. https://maps.app.goo.gl/kqzv1uHeqbyxF6wJA

Fish taco, tuna taco (never had this) and shrimp taco with one of our favorite Mexican beer… Victoria. Not pictured was the shrimp quesadilla.

The nice place about this place is that you order the protein then you get to choose your toppings from an al a Carte bar of toppings. You order, the hand you the tacos, you top with what you want and when you are done you pay. Talk about honor system. Sitting there eating I started sweating like a pig and had to begun to smell like one.

One thing I didn’t mention yesterday and as of yet is attire. I looked at the weather and though the nights were on the chilly side, days got into the mid-upper 70’s. Knowing we were going to be walking around, I brought workout pants, bras and tank tops. How I felt so inappropriately dressed. Most (non working out folks) were dressed in long sleeves and even jackets with long pants. WTF? It is warm! In the shade it is chilly so I get some of it but in the sun, you are going to sweat. When I sweat, it is in bucket form and all I brought warm wise was my sweat shirt that I would wear at night when cold.

Not wanting that to smell like complete BO, we were on the search for a lighter so I didn’t have to use the only sweat shirt for day and night. Since it is Monday, most things (outside of eateries) are closed on Monday, we went to a place we figured would be an old reliable…..Walmart.

Notice my attire and the guys behind me. Well Walmart Express is only food and no clothes so it was a no go there. We also looked for some anti-monkey butt for JD so if you are a person who needs stuff like that, BRING it. We couldn’t find it and the line was so long that he refused to stand in line for baby powder (it was a very very long line).

Needing a solution, JD found out that the Adidas store was open so we headed there. I didn’t want to spend that amount of money on yet another jacket but I needed it so that was the option. I know I will wear it so I’m not super sad about it just annoyed I didn’t plan better.

We headed back to the apartment to rest and relax for a bit and drop my stuff off. Well, we got comfortable and ended up just staying around the apartment as we have a very early morning tomorrow and decided to eat again at “home” which was chicken salad (real greens salad) to help with our waist lines. We have box wine and fireball (our normal go to in the states) so we were set. It’s been a good day and we fell in love with this city or area at the least.

One thing I want to mention that hadn’t, this area at least is extremely clean and dog friendly. I’ve never seen so many dogs that were so well behaved in every situation. Not one dog barked while we were out. Unbelievable!
