Being our last day in this wonderful city, there was one place JD wanted to go and see. But first breakfast, we went to a place just around the corner and of course I didn’t take any fucking pictures of the food though I did get a picture of the sign.

JD had chilaquiles and I had a ham, cheese and egg sandwich. Mine was lack luster but hey, as my mom always said, it will make a turd. 😂

After breakfast, we headed back to the apartment to do a birthday celebratory shot for a good friend of mine’s 42nd birthday who passed back in 2016. We cheers her every year to celebrate her life and time on earth.

Cheers my beautiful friend Saralynn! Miss you every day!!

Next stop, Centro Historico!

One thing that we didn’t anticipate was the crowd. Apparently December 1st is the change of federal government day and the square was CRAZY!

National Palace

Through the madness of people, we made our way into the National Museum of World Cultures which is one of five national museums managed by the National Institute of Anthropology and History. This particular museum is dedicated to the cultural diversity of the world. Btw if you are wondering why I’m mentioning this attached to the National Palace is because, well it’s attached to the National Palace.

One thing to know about this area, this is the main area of where the Aztecs built their empire in this area and the Palace was built on top of it.

These are all parts of the ruins that are located under the Palace.

The next place we visited Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral. It was very much like every other cathedral. Massive, lots of detail and statues galore.

The organ

The final place we visited was the Templo Mayor. This was a spiritual place that the Aztecs build which that archeologist started to restore back in the 20’s. Its fall happened in 1521 when the Spanish came in and conquered it. Outside of the pyramids, this was one of my favorite places to visit and see. SO much history!!

This is going to be a bunch of pictures with some explanation.

This is a depiction of the 7 layers of construction which is what we saw (minus a few layers due to being under or just not there)
Can’t believe this tree is still here!
Great and simple time line of who lived when.
This is the 4th construction
This is the 3rd construction
This is the second construction
This shows (whether you know it or not) 4 stages of construction

Due to them building on a lake, they needed a solution to reinforce buildings so the drove large stakes into the ground. This is what is left over from that.

Replica of how the “city” looked. The section on the front left is what we think is under the Palace.

Tired, hungry and thirsty, we headed to the Irish Pub. JD always has to visit an Irish Pub wherever he goes if there is one. This one did not disappoint!

Classic Fish and Chip
Hamburguesa de Rib Eye

After lunch we went back and relaxed until we needed to head out for dinner. And dinner did not disappoint!

It’s fondue to go!!
On the left Fondue to go Prosciutto and on the right Fondue to go Cordon Blue.
Considered “regular” Mac and cheese but so much more!

This was a recommend from our Airbnb host which we didn’t know if we would be able to go to but the lack of quick meals lead us to this place and we are not sad!
