This year marks JD’s 40th year of traveling around the sun. We are here to celebrate HIM! ❤

There were so many things building up to this year. For those who don’t know, I’m 43.5 which means I’ve been through the 40th year and beyond. He used to make fun of me and all my aches, pains, hormones (he won’t experience this), and everything in between. He, at one point, asked, “is this really what 40 is like? I thought you were just being a complainer.” Nope, this is what it looks and feels like bro.

I also tried to come up with a place he had never been or a season in a place he had never experienced (e.g. New York in Christmas). Stuck, I decided to just asked where he wanted to go and he said Charleston SC. So we booked our trip for a long weekend.

He had been to Charleston with his best friend, Nate. They had a walk of shame sort of situation when they left, and neither had been back since.

Let me briefly explain.

They ended up staying with an old high school acquaintance 20-some years ago. During their last night there, they got in a fist fight, JD went to a late-night soul food place, and somehow, Nate ended up being brought back to the place by police officers due to being drunk and lost. In the morning, when they left, they managed to ran into her house with their car. Whether it was meant to be their last night or not, they didn’t have a choice otherwise. Hence the walk of shame.

Our day started out the same as always. I let the dogs out, the littles (little dogs that can fit through the kitty door) went into JD’s room (yes, we lived alone for many years, so we have separate bedrooms) as they do every morning for extra snoozes.

Now, Otis has been fought over by my nephew and sister-in-law to sleep with as he is a great sleeper. If you don’t want to sleep in, you don’t sleep with this dog. Nuff said. JD literally got up to pee and grabbed this dog and took him back to bed. That has to tell you something.

I cleaned the house, set the fish up for food success and refilled the chicken food and water. JD took care of the cat litter, food and water so the only thing our dog/house sitter needed to take care of was the dogs going forward.

My only hope was that Khaleesi not shit on the bed as I woke up to poop on the floor (will take this vs on the bed). I will say stay tuned on that but hope there is not update!

One thing that is a wild card factor is that my grandma Libby is in hospice and my pass during our trip. Not something we dell on as we don’t know though it weighs heavily on our hearts.

Flights were pretty easy, STL—>DAL (1.5 hours), DAL—>CHA (also 1.5 hour flight).

We are leaving on a jet plane!

By the time we landed, it was 20:30, and the drive was about 20 minutes from the airport to the Arbnb. There was a little corner store that sold beer and wine (liquor has to be purchased from a liquor store) so we walked down there for some provisions before setteling in for the night. The Arbnb was a tiny home. It was a quaint updated studio home. Our bed was where we sat to watch tv. I didn’t realize how much I take having a sofa to sit on for granted. I missed my sofa the most.

Here is the view from the bed/lounge area. TV was above the closet.
Getting cozy for the night

Tomorrow is supposed to be a warm day, so we are going on a walkabout. Time to get our beauty rest. See you tomorrow; good night!
