UPDATE: No one shit on the bed, which I’m very thankful for!
We slept in a bit, as we should, since we are on vacation, and woke up to people working just right outside on the main house. They weren’t loud at all, and not why we woke up in general. The host also let us know it was being worked on and was extremely apologetic regarding it. We got up, got dressed (we decided to grunge it), and headed out for breakfast.

The little corner store we stopped at the night before had offered breakfast, so we decided to go there. However, when we got there, they weren’t open and wouldn’t open for another 15 minutes, so we moved on. We came upon Holy City Bagels, and let me tell you, a damn good breakfast sandwich and a New York-style bagel at that. I got the BLTA on an everything bagel, and JD got the sausage, egg, and cheese on a jalapeño cheddar bagel. We shared a hashbrown patty (think McDonald’s but better). They made, in-house, different spreads, so JD got a small pimento cheese spread for later. We got there just in time, and as soon as we sat down, the line was out the door. Sorry, no pictures of the food, but highly recommend it if you are in the area!
After breakfast, we head back to our place to drop off leftover food and to actually get ready for the day. We joked with the construction workers and were on our way. Once we were cleaned up and ready for the day, we made our way to The Battery and White Point Garden. It was a pretty walk and much needed after our very filling breakfast.
We made it to The Battery and the waterfront.

As we walked, we did see a few dolphins in the harbor but they went below to quickly to get a picture or video of them. It was still cool to see. We walked the waterfront through an area called Rainbow Row. It got its name from, well, I think it is obvious.

The next area we headed to was Waterfront Park to see the iconic Pineapple Fountain. Though you can wade in it around the edges, you can’t “swim” or play under the fountain. We stop for a quick break before heading on.

The last place JD wanted to show me was the City Market. For those who are from the STL area, think Soulard Farmer’s Marketish, this is bigger. It is like a 5-block indoor market that sells anything from food to wallets, to metal figures, to clothes.
On our way back to our place, we stopped at a Japanese place for lunch. We shared a spicy salmon roll, JD got drunken noodles with shrimp, and I got the green curry with chicken. Another wonderful food experience (again, sorry didn’t take pictures of the food). When we were done, we kept heading back to our place to let the food settle and take a load off. We did stop for provisions on our way. We walked over 9 miles, and by the time we got back and settled, JD ordered in Chinese food for dinner, and we went to bed early. It was nice enough in the evening that we spent some time on the porch area.

Tomorrow is our adventure to Fort Sumter!
