One of the best things about living in Switzerland is how easy it is travel around Europe. JD and I have our first trip planned to Berlin Germany and Budapest Hungry the beginning of December.
Accommodations- With the ever so popular airbnb, we found some really awesome places to stay. We are staying in Berlin for 4 nights and 5 days which the cost for that is $161. We are also staying 4 nights and 5 days in Budapest so the cost for that stay is $158. I would say for $319 for 8 nights is pretty damn awesome. That is roughly $40 per night for us to have our own place!
Airfare- With Easyjet we booked some really cheap flights. There are a couple of ways to fly around Europe- Easyjet being one but also there is Ryanair. These are considered “budget” airlines with no frills but it gets you to where you need to go and without breaking the bank. To give you an idea of what it will cost JD and I to fly from Geneva to Berlin to Budapest back to Geneva, I have attached our itinerary with total cost for both of use on each flight.
In case you are wondering what conversion is $180.31 USD total for both of us to fly basically round trip.
Total cost of accommodations and airfare is around $500 for the 8 nights and 9 days! Luckily we have some pretty awesome friends who are watching the dogs so we aren’t spending money on boarding them. That will, however, not be the case our second trip in December. More on that to come!
UPDATE: So traveling is easy and mostly cheap unless you have to cancel your trip. Because airfare is so inexpensive, it costs more than we actually spent to change or cancel the flights. We got most of our money back with airbnb for Budapest but only $54 back from Berlin. We didn’t buy travel insurance but something worth checking out!!
